YAS Awarded Medical Non-Emergency Transport Contract
Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust is delighted to announce that it has been successful in securing a new five-year contract to deliver medical non-emergency transport in York and Scarborough following a competitive tender process.
This process concluded in January 2018 and the contract, for more than 64,000 journeys per year, will commence on 1 July 2018. It includes transport for eligible patients to access outpatient appointments in Scarborough and Ryedale and the Vale of York.
Chris Dexter, Managing Director of the Patient Transport Service at Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust, said:
“We are delighted to have secured the contract in York and Scarborough. It is a fantastic achievement for the Trust, our staff and North Yorkshire residents for this core work to remain within the NHS. Our staff provide a high quality service for patients and I’m proud of how they have continued to conduct themselves so professionally against the backdrop of uncertainty during the bid process.
“We are looking forward to developing the medical non-emergency transport service further over the next five years in partnership with the local CCGs.”
Tracey Preece, Chief Finance Officer at the NHS Vale of York Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), said:
“NHS Vale of York CCG together with our commissioning colleagues at Scarborough and Ryedale CCG are pleased to announce that the contract to provide medical non-emergency patient transport in the area has been awarded to Yorkshire Ambulance Service.
“The CCGs’ objective was to find a provider which can offer a high-quality and innovative service which meets the needs of the local population in the Vale and York and Scarborough and Ryedale and also provide good value for money.
“We look forward to working closely with Yorkshire Ambulance Service over the next five years to deliver the best possible service for patients being transported to and from hospital in these two regions.”
This contract follows hard on the heels of Yorkshire Ambulance Service winning the contracts for non-emergency medical transport services in the East Riding of Yorkshire and South Yorkshire last year.
